NOVA Green Lab Membership Call for 2024-2025

The NOVA Green lab is opening applications for students of Ph.D., Master, and Bachelor programs (4th Year only) to become members of our team from October 2024 to September 2025.

NOVA Green Lab is an innovative and active knowledge center of NOVA School of Law committed to promoting legal and multidisciplinary environmental, climate, and energy law researchCurrently, we are running several projects, among them, on (i) the intertwined relationship between Law and the E of ESG, particularly from the perspective of the Corporate Sustainable Reporting Directive, Taxonomy, Green Claim/Greenwashing, and Sustainable Finance, (ii) the implementation of the energy market reform in the EU and transposition to portuguese law, with particular attention to REMIT and consumer protection measures, and (iii) broad issues related to climate and energy just transition. 

Expectations

Each NOVA Green lab member is expected to conduct at least one research paper during the year. Also, members should attend our monthly meetings and are also expected to actively contribute to one or more of the organization’s programs, which includes contributing to our outreach dissemination plan, organization of events, editorial and/or peer-review work, research and publication at the national and international levels. Being a member of the NOVA Green Lab is a voluntary exercise, thus, we do not require a heavy commitment from each of the members (approximately two hours per week).

Target audience and Requirements

Applicants should:

  • Be Ph.D., Master or 4th year Bachelor students, members of the NOVA School of Law academic community;
  • Be engaged in research activities relating to the relationship between Law and Energy, Climate and/or the Environment
  • Have an advanced level of English knowledge.

Application process

Those wishing to become part of our team shall send their application to the NOVA Green lab email contact (greenlab@novalaw.unl.pt) with the following elements:

  • Short (maximum 2 pages) Curriculum Vitae (including GPA).
  • The most recent academic grade transcript or a list of grades for relevant courses.
  • Motivation Letter (maximum 700 words):
    Please submit a motivation letter that addresses the following key points:
  1. Major Areas of Interest: Clearly outline your primary fields of interest and expertise within your discipline.
  2. Research Theme: Identify and describe a specific theme or topic you are particularly interested in exploring through your research. Please provide details on why this theme is significant and how it aligns with your (and our) broader research goals.
