Guest Lecture: Filipe Matias Santos

Join us for an insightful guest lecture with Filipe Matias Santos, Head of Legal at the Portuguese Energy Regulatory Authority (ERSE). A distinguished alumnus of NOVA School of Law, Filipe holds a Master’s in Law and has built an impressive career in the energy and regulatory sectors.

Filipe began his professional journey at Garrigues law firm before spending eight years as a senior legal advisor at the Portuguese Markets Regulatory Commission (CMVM). In 2013, he joined ERSE, where he now leads the legal department. He is also a member of the General Assembly of CEDIPRE (Research Center for Public Law and Regulation) and serves on the Legal Affairs Committee of the Council of European Energy Regulators (CEER).

His academic qualifications include postgraduate studies in Energy Law from the University of Lisbon and Regulation of Energy Utilities from the Florence School of Regulation/European University Institute. He also completed the PAGE – Executive Program in Advanced Management at Católica Lisbon School of Business and Economics.

Filipe is an accomplished author, with publications such as Duty of Disclosure by Issuers and Reflections on Energy Law, and he frequently speaks at national and international conferences. He also teaches in postgraduate and Master’s programs at several prestigious law schools in Portugal.
