Udara Manchanayaka Jayawardana

Mr. Udara Manchanayaka Jayawardana (M.J.M.U.P Jayawardana) is an Assistant Legal Draftsman (Legislative Counsel) attached to the Legal Draftsman’s Department of Sri Lanka which is the government institution responsible for drafting legislations for the Parliament of Sri Lanka since 2016. Prior to joining the Legal Draftsman’s Department he was an Assistant Lecturer attached to the Department of Public and International Law, Faculty of Law, University of Colombo where he taught and conducted discussion classes on Constitutional Law, Administrative Law, Environmental Law and Law of the Sea. He enrolled as an Attorney-at-Law of the Supreme Court of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka in mid of 2013. He was a Visiting Lecturer in Maritime Law at CINEC Campus, Malabe, Sri Lanka and a Visiting Lecturer in Business Law at Aquinas University College Colombo. Moreover, He was a Marking Examiner in Constitutional Law at Sri Lanka Law College, Colombo, Sri Lanka.  

He holds a Bachelor of Laws Degree with Second Class Upper Division and has completed the final Bar Exams with second Class Honours. He has won Walter & Judith Pinto Memorial Gold Medal & Scholarship for Public International and received S.A Kumara Dhamso Siriwardena Memorial Scholarship and University Studentship by University of Colombo, Sri Lanka based on the results of the Bachelor of Laws degree programme. 

He has presented number of research papers in national and international conferences in Sri Lanka and China. Currently he is reading for a Master of Law and Economics of the Sea and Ocean Governance at Nova School of Law, Nova University of Lisbon.
